Our Energy unit is now complete! I really enjoyed seeing all the great Rube Goldberg designs that students created. The idea was to have students show their understanding of how energy changes form. Their objective was to use different kinds of energy to send me flying into a huge water tank. I am impressed with creative, inventive and clever ways students used kinetic, nuclear, thermal, electrical, and chemical energy in their design.
Now we dive into thermodynamics! the homework is all about heat this week. Please take extra care if you choose candle making from crayons, make sure your have your parent around for that one.
Speaking of homework here it is: Homework week 5
here is a link to the BrainPop Global Warming
and here is the Global Warming quiz
Enjoy the warm weather, next week we will use conduction, convection and radiation to transfer energy!

Spring has Sprung!
This week many homerooms were out enjoying the warm weather. Green-up has only just begun but the sounds of spring are in full force. As the weather continues to improve, we will be spending more and more time outdoors. Lab Tech will start working in the garden when we have finished constructing our Rube Goldberg machines.
Science classes are in the midst of a big summative project about using different kinds of energy (kinetic, electrical, nuclear, chemical, and thermal). This will be due Tuesday (3/20 )of next week with only a quick check in on Monday so much of the final polish work should be done at home over the weekend.
Speaking of work to do over the weekend, here is homework week 4
Here is the link to BrainPop's Kinetic Energy
Finally, here is the quiz for BrainPop so you don't have to do all that writing.
Before next Friday, let me know the first official day of Spring for an added table point!

Ahh the joys of doing homework during springtime!
Howdy!
Here is a bunch of stuff for your homework...
Quarter 3 Week 1
Quarter 3 Week 2 ... again
Quarter 3 Week 3
BrainPop Week 1
BrainPop Week 2
BrainPop Week 3
And Now... SPRING! Whoo Hoo! For those who are bummed that your friends in other schools are on break right now, just think of May. All May (OK, 3 weeks in May) you are off having fun but only in warmer weather and more sunlight! And for those who were inconvenienced by any delay in this posting, Tell me who should "beware the ides of March" by this Thursday (the 15th), and I will give you a table point.

Here come the Snow People
Hi again everybody!
So This week's homework has some exciting pieces. Want to see a copy? Here ya go... Quarter 3 Week 2. Forms of Energy of BrainPop and BrainPop Quiz.
This week we got our science notebooks organized for Quarter III. We documented our new vocab words: Energy and Forms of Energy (Kinetic, Chemical, Electrical, Nuclear, Thermal). We are also comparing and contrasting non-fiction texts.
On Friday, the homerooms made snow-people. It was gratifying so see almost 100 kids playing in the snow creating, working together, and enjoying each others creations. Have a look.
